Houses from Within

The annual Jerusalem 'Houses from Within' architecture festival is part of the international 'Open House' concept, when normally private urban spaces are opened up to the public. In October 2012, Yad LaKashish took part for the first time.
Yad LaKashish at Mamilla Sukkot Fair
Every year, at Sukkot time, there is a fair for Israeli non-profit organizations, just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, called 'Creating from the Heart for the Community.' This year, Yad LaKashish was proud to be one of thirty non-profit organizations taking part in the three day long fair, which was sponsored by Bank Mizrachi-Tefachot.
Celebrating a Special Birthday
As Educ
ational Director of Congregation Agudath Israel of West Essex, NJ, Susan Werk has been bringing groups from the community to Yad LaKashish for many years. On hearing that 2012 was our 50th Anniversary year, she decided to do something extra special and share her own 50th birthday celebrations with us. On top of a generous personal donation, Susan dedicated her 2012 Women’s Seder to Yad LaKashish, and we received 34 donations in her honor. The icing on the birthday cake was a gift voucher for the Yad LaKashish store which Susan received as a birthday gift from friends, and spent on some of our newest products during a summer visit. Thank you so much to Susan and all our friends at Congregation Agudath Israel, who also ran a wonderful sale for Yad LaKashish. Thank you also to all the other communities who help us in so many ways.
