Yad LaKashish (Lifeline for the Old) is a non-profit organization that provides creative work opportunities and invaluable support services to over 300 needy elderly and disabled Jerusalem residents on a daily basis. The majority of participants are immigrants from areas such as the Former Soviet Union, Ethiopia, and South America, and all have found renewed meaning and purpose through their involvement in our programs.
Founded in 1962, Yad LaKashish provides a warm, supportive, and stimulating environment. in which our participants are given the opportunity to utilize their skills, discover new talents, and maintain a sense of self-sufficiency.
Yad LaKashish does not receive any government funding. Approximately 30% of our annual budget is covered by sales of our beautiful, handmade items in the Yad LaKashish Gift Shop; for the remainder, we rely upon contributions from individuals and organizations from Israel and abroad.
Now more than ever, we need your help in enabling Jerusalem's needy elderly men and women to lead long, meaningful, and productive lives, filled with dignity and self-respect.
